Following up on the stunning, totally restyled 1963 Corvette Sting Ray, the lightly updated 1964 models maintained Corvette’s growing momentum with production rising to 22,229 units—a new all-time high. Fewer coupes, sporting a new one-piece rear window, were sold for ’64, but substantially higher convertible sales that year made up the difference. Both Corvette models featured carefully simplified styling with fewer embellishments for a cleaner presence, while other updates for 1964 included better interior ventilation, more interior color choices and the debut appearance of the newly optional RPO P48 cast aluminum knock-off wheels. While the track-bound Z06 option package was discontinued after 1963, powertrain combinations remained essentially unchanged for ’64. However, both the carbureted L76 and L84 Rochester Ramjet fuel-injected 327 CI V-8 engines were now uprated to 365 and 375 HP, respectively. Transmission choices continued with the cruising-oriented 2-speed Powerglide automatic and the Muncie M20 4-speed selected by the vast majority of 1964 Corvette buyers, numbering 19,034 of them in all. According to its corresponding NCRS Shipping Data Report, this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Convertible was produced on November 5, 1963, and delivered new to Malcolm Konnor Chevrolet in Paramus, New Jersey. An 18-month restoration was completed using the NCRS judging manual and Corvette expert Noland Adams’ historical documentation. The body was taken down to bare fiberglass, prepared and refinished in Satin Silver, paired with black vinyl upholstery. The restored original removable auxiliary hardtop is included, and the white soft top has purportedly never been down since the restoration was completed. Power is provided by the original 327/365 HP V-8 engine, paired with a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission. Offered from the Charles J. Musto Collection, this outstanding Corvette’s extensive array of trophies and awards includes an AACA Carolina Regional award in 2014, the AACA Senior National First Prize in 2015 and AACA Grand National honors in 2018. Several boxes of original components accompany this multiple award-winning Corvette, including such parts as the air cleaner, wiring harness, trim pieces, fuel pump, brake shoes, expansion tank nuts, bolts and accessories.
