TH E M U S E U M HAYES MARCH 24-26, 2022 CO L L EC TI O N T R A C T O R S • V I N T A G E T RU C K S • RO A D A R T & R E L I C S BEND XPO | 922 MISSISSIPPI PARKWAY | EAST MOLINE, IL First 50 Years of Trucks Formerly located in Woodland, California, at the Heidrick Ag History Center and attracting droves of visitors each year, the Hays Antique Truck Museum (HATM) was founded in 1982 by A.W. “Pop” Hays, a pioneer with more than 50 years in the California trucking industry. Hays retired aſter decades on the road, and at age 76, he began to collect and restore old trucks to pass the time and form a rewarding hobby. Crowds of people from all over the country came to see these restored beauties, basking in a time now long gone yet respectfully remembered. Aſter HATM closed, a portion of the Hays collection was donated to the National Automobile Museum. Now, another portion of those vehicles once displayed at HATM is headed for the Gone Farmin’ auction block this spring, and the group is just as unique and desirable as those that remain on exhibition. The collection housed manufacturers such as Fageol, Freightliner, Mack, Sterling, Oshkosh, Peterbilt, C.T. Electric and the one and only 1916 Breeding Steam Truck. Likewise, the 37 trucks being offered from the collection include rarities not oſten seen by bidders. With a varied selection of rare, antique trucks, the Hays Museum Antique Truck Collection is not just an opportunity to get up close and personal with the history of trucking—it’s an opportunity for bidders in East Moline to take a piece of history home to their own collections.
