Introduced for 2017, the Grand Sport not only recalled Zora Arkus-Duntov’s wild, loosely Corvette-based racers of the early 1960s, it embodied the lessons learned by Corvette Racing. Based on the seventh-generation Corvette and replete with a wide array of cutting-edge aerodynamic and chassis upgrades, the Grand Sport was produced through 2019, combining the Z06 and Z51 performance packages with a potent, naturally aspirated LT1 powerplant. More than living up to its hallowed name, the Grand Sport featured specific wheels, tires, brakes and suspension, plus competition-type dry-sump engine lubrication, an electronic limited-slip rear axle, differential/transmission coolers, RPO NPP Performance exhaust for an additional 5 HP, and special performance gear ratios. Externally, the Grand Sport brought aero upgrades including a frontal air splitter, unique rocker panels, wider rear fenders and a “wickerbill” rear spoiler, to name just a few. Rare as one of 744 Corvette Grand Sport coupes produced in Long Beach Red tintcoat for 2019, this example is offered with just 1,237 miles. Benefiting from storage in a humidity- and temperature-controlled facility, it is a Pace Car Edition authorized by Indy 500 officials. The potent LT1 6.2L/460 HP V-8 engine is mated to a paddle-shifted 8-speed automatic transmission, and driving dynamics are enhanced by Magnetic Ride Control and the Active Handling stability system. Lightweight carbon fiber body components include the painted roof panel, front splitter, hood and rear spoiler. Inside, the Grand Sport is a study in functional, driver-focused luxury beginning with the optional 2LT Equipment package that brings a wide array of passenger amenities. Trimmed in black leather, the interior features heated and ventilated seats for all-season comfort on command, plus a head-up Display (HUD). HID Xenon headlamps light the way, and the advanced theft-deterrent package heightens security. Topped by full-length silver stripes and black hash marks from the Grand Sport Heritage Package, this fabulous performer rides on a set of striking Grand Sport wheels. A 3-ring binder accompanies it, containing the window sticker and spare keys. Rare and offered with limited ownership and low mileage, this 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is a true, modern collectible on every possible level.
