When Jamal Hameedi, Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) engineering manager, cruised the halls of the SEMA Show in 2006, he noticed the trend among younger truck enthusiasts was no longer focused on lowered, high-powered pickups. In fact, the interest was swirling intensely around lifted, off- road pickups of outlandish power. With that, he returned and challenged the SVT team with building the most off-the-charts off-road pickup the world had ever seen from an OEM. The Raptor arrived in 2010 and took the world by storm. Capable of zero to 60 MPH times that scared modern muscle cars, it could scream across the deserts at 140 MPH all day long. It wasn’t long after Ford introduced the first Raptor that Shelby American started poking around to see what else could be had from Dearborn’s high-performance, all-terrain truck. The 5.4L V-8 was standard, but a 6.2L was optional, and it wasn’t long before Ford dropped the 5.4L and just stuck with the 6.2L, which was good for a whopping 411 HP and 434 lb-ft of torque. Shelby tweaked that up to 575 HP, but Ford soon began using twin-turbocharged V-6 engines in the Raptor, with Shelby following suit. While the V-6 is stunningly smooth and pulls like a jet with 450 HP, for many, there’s nothing quite like the grunt of the burly 6.2L. This 2014 Shelby Raptor, CSM 14SR0071, is powered by the 575 HP Shelby 6.2L V-8. Boasting a Shelby/Whipple supercharger, the $1,199 Shelby intercooler, the $4,799 Shelby long-tube headers and the Shelby Stinger exhaust system, the engine is fitted with a serialized Shelby engine plate. The black interior features blue highlighting and a Shelby floor mat set, is fitted with boost and fuel pressure gauges, and is a custom exclusive to the Shelby Raptor, complete with an exclusive dash plate. The white exterior features black Shelby graphics, Shelby side fender heat extractors and a Retrax power-operated retractable bed cover system with a remote control, and the truck rolls on BF Goodrich K02 tires and custom 18x9 Method wheels. With the odometer reading under 38,600 miles, this Shelby Raptor presents beautifully and is accompanied by a Shelby build sheet and delivery certificate.
