Produced on April 18, 1967 and delivered new by Norton Chevrolet in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this NCRS Regional Top Flight-winning 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe is a breathtaking example of the high-water mark in road-going, production, second-generation Corvettes, offering many highlights for the serious collector. Skillfully refinished once in the original Marlboro Maroon with a black stinger stripe on the no-hit body, it presents in absolutely superb overall condition. It retains the factory-original body and trim tag, and it has been driven just 34,069 actual miles. As that figure would attest, it has obviously seen fastidious care and maintenance throughout its life, a fact supported by the incredible condition of its black interior. The carpet, seats, door panels and dash pad are not only original to the car but in impressive condition, showing minimal wear. Perhaps most importantly, it features the most powerful production engine ever offered in any Corvette to its time (with the obvious exception of the race-purposed L88): the L71 427/435 HP Mark IV big-block V-8. A reliable powerhouse packing forged internals, a radical solid-lifter cam, 11.0:1 compression and rectangular-port, big-valve heads, the L71 is famed for its Tri-Power induction system employing three inline- mounted Holley 2-barrel carburetors progressively linked on an aluminium intake manifold to produce stunning acceleration. Complementing the L71’s massive output are transistorized ignition, a Muncie M21 close-ratio, 4-speed manual transmission and 3.70:1 Positraction rear end, F41 special heavy-duty front and rear suspension, and factory side exhaust. Further optioned with an AM/FM radio, SS brakes, Soft Ray tinted glass and 7.75x15 redline tires on finned aluminum bolt- on wheels, this big-block, 4-speed coupe’s engine block, stamp pad and engine stamp have been affirmed by Al Grenning’s Classic Car Affirmation Service.
