S113 1970 FORD MUSTANG BOSS 429 FASTBACK | 7,745 Miles, KK № 2401 If ever there was an entry in the late ‘60s muscle car sweepstakes that put an exclamation point to the wonderful excesses of that bygone era, the Ford Mustang Boss 429 has to qualify as a strong contender. To put the matter into perspective, consider that a full three decades would pass before Ford offered a Mustang with the equivalent factory horsepower rating as the stock 1970 Boss 429 engine, and another 13 years before a new-generation Shelby GT500 matched the NASCAR racing version’s peak output of 650 HP. One of 499 produced, this extremely low-mileage 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback from the Steve Todhunter Collection is one of the finest examples in existence of one of the most exciting Mustangs ever made. Ford and Shelby restoration specialist David Randal of Randal's Restorations Inc. in Comfort, Texas, performed a concours-quality restoration of this Boss 9, Kar Kraft No. 2401, and then turned it over for final detailing to his colleague Bob Perkins of Des Moines, Iowa, who is nationally recognized as an expert in detailing vintage American muscle cars. Finished in Grabber Blue with a black interior, KK No. 2401 was the subject of a feature article in the September 1996 issue of Mustang Monthly magazine. Visually distinguished by its black Boss hood scoop, front and rear spoilers, rear-window Sport Slats, color-keyed dual racing mirrors and Goodyear Polyglas GTs on chromed Magnum 500 wheels, it incorporates the Code Z 429 CI “Semi Hemi” V-8 engine, a close ratio 4-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter, the Super Drag Pack 3.91:1 Traction-Lok differential, Competition suspension, power steering and power front disc brakes. The Deluxe Décor Group interior is also standard Boss 429 fare, and it includes Comfortweave bucket seats, a unique speedometer, trip odometer and tach, deluxe three-spoke rim- blow steering wheel, in-dash clock and wood-grain accents on the dash, doors and console. Presenting in superb concours condition at just 7,754 miles, this rare Boss 429 is well documented with the original Ford invoice, the factory build sheet, owner’s manual and owner card, and a Deluxe Marti Report. Estimate: $250,000 - $300,000
