Debuted for 2006, Audi’s brilliant R8 arrived as a true midengine supercar with permanent all-wheel drive, V-10 power, exotic yet functional styling and a luxurious, driver-centric interior. Design, development and manufacture of the R8 was, and remains, wholly under the control of Audi AG subsidiary Audi Sport GmbH, formerly named Quattro GmbH in homage to Audi’s all-conquering Quattros of World Rally Championship fame.
