Correctly finished in seldom-seen Code 912 Silver Blue with a contrasting Daytona Blue interior, this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Split Window Coupe, delivered new to Service Chevrolet in Lafayette, Louisiana, has everything to offer the serious collector, most importantly its matching- numbers Rochester fuel-injected 327/360 HP small-block V-8 engine. Teamed with the optional BorgWarner T-10 4-speed manual transmission, 3.70:1 Positraction rear end and off-road exhaust, this was the hot combination in the all-new 1963 Corvette lineup. While it is often noted that engine choices were carried over from 1962 into the new Corvette, there were in fact significant improvements made to the Rochester fuel-injection system in the first major overhaul since its introduction in 1957. The main plenum was now a two-piece unit allowing more precise casting, larger and more smoothly shaped internal ram pipes and increased volume. Additionally, the idle circuit and choke systems were improved, an internal high-pressure fuel pump enabled more consistent starting, and a fuel return line was added to minimize vapor lock. This extensively improved 360 HP engine also featured new cosmetics in the form of a finned plenum chamber with crossed flags, and chrome plating on the fuel lines, fuel filter fittings, dipstick and oil filler, as demonstrated on this well-preserved split window Fuelie coupe. Refinished with one show-quality repaint on undamaged fiberglass, it boasts a rust-free chassis and undercarriage, and it retains the original body and trim tag, original unrestored gauge cluster, Wonderbar radio, Soft Ray-tinted windshield, full-size wheel covers and correct new 6.70-15 white-stripe tires. It received a recent mechanical service, including new clutch and brakes, performed by a marque specialist, and it retains most all factory-correct-type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, clear floor mats, washer system, shifter, shielding, air cleaner, distributor, idler pulley, spark plug shields, hoses, hose clamps, fuel-injection unit and fuel filter, finned balancer, 6-quart oil pan, radiator, gas door assembly, Bowtie mirror, glovebox door, cookie tin hood, owners manual and sales brochure.
