Introduced formally in midyear 1964, the Ford Mustang quickly became an all-American legend in the muscle car movement. Offered here is an unrestored 9,000-original-mile example from those early production Mustangs that have come to be known as the 1964-½ Mustang. This legend was manufactured in Dearborn, Michigan, on July 10, 1964 and has a very low assembly line unit number of 194961 for that year. The car was then shipped to the district sales office in Fargo, North Dakota, and then on to Miles City, Montana. This Mustang has only had three owners in its 57 years of history, spending 33 of those years in Montana and 24 years in Wyoming. The car has been garaged and lovingly stored over its entire career and has only been out of the corral for special events, including Mustang Club of America National shows from 1999-2005. This pony car has won two gold, one silver and one bronze award in the unrestored category during this timeframe. Since 2005, this car has only been seen by family and friends. However, what truly makes this Mustang standout from the herd is the rarity of the unrestored features. This car is remarkably original except for the battery, air filter, upper radiator hose clamps, muffler and oil filter. Original factory sparkplugs, points, fan belts, air cleaner stickers and ignition wires are just a sample of what is still present on this car. The car even has the five factory original tires still intact. Still evident are factory paint marks on parts like the fuel pump, undercarriage, driveshaft, steering linkage, differential, backing plates and suspension, and even the transmission tag from the factory remains on the vehicle. All these features further add to the intriguing nature of this full-sized reference manual. This Mustang is also visually stunning with its Raven Black finish, whitewall tires and knock-off hubcaps. Inside, the interior is finished in bright crinkle white, with the dash, carpet and rear deck cloaked in a complementary royal blue. An original dealer-installed pony horn also adds a bit of fun. From a legacy standpoint, any 1964-½ Mustang is truly a classic; however, this car has rarities in its unrestored state that carries it far beyond that.
