Ford developed the Bronco on a budget, having invested a princely sum in developing the Mustang. As such, it relied on many off-the-shelf parts and had to sell well. Fortunately, it sold very well and quickly made a profit for the company. It would prove to be one of the most popular names in the sport utility market, which was a tall bet considering it was taking on tried-and-true brands from American Motors, International Harvester and, to a slightly lesser degree, Toyota and Land Rover. But, Ford customers interested in a personal off-road vehicle liked what they saw and bought. The first generation spanned through 1977, with 1978 ushering in a larger Bronco designed to be more appealing to a larger marketplace. But, to many, those first-generation Broncos are still the king, and this one offers a lot of modern amenities with a classic style. Delkin Motor Sports performed the restoration and final assembly of this Bronco, which is powered by a FiTech fuel-injected 347 CI stroker engine with ceramic-coated headers, James Duff aluminized exhaust pipes and high-flow mufflers, and Granatelli electric exhaust cutouts, among other performance enhancements. The engine is backed by a newly built automatic transmission, and the axles have been rebuilt, including all-new gearing and a rebuilt and serviced transfer case. The modified front suspension includes radius arm drop, three-way adjustable drag link, adjustable panhard rod, custom-aligned steering damper and step-down pitman arm. The rear suspension includes a Rap-Trap and rear upper shock mount bar, and the whole suspension has been lifted 5 inches, while the body has seen a 3.5-inch lift. Power steering and 4-wheel Wilwood disc brakes with Hydroboost make the Bronco much easier to drive. The interior features carpeting, bucket seats, a locking center console and under-seat conceal carry box, air conditioning, power windows, retractable three-point harness, custom padded and powdercoated roll cage, Bluetooth connectivity and insulation against heat and noise. Dark red and black, the exterior features chrome front and rear bumpers, black wheel arch flares, retractable running boards and more. New wiring and fixtures ensure electrical reliability, and all-in-all, this Bronco is certain to draw attention and prove to be a great cruiser.
