This fully documented 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Holiday Coupe is equipped with a matching-numbers 455/365 HP V-8 engine and Turbo 400 automatic transmission. It is additionally loaded with a slew of factory options, including the 3.08 ratio Positraction rear end differential, power steering and power brakes. In 1970, standard equipment on the 442 consisted of the 455 engine with 4-barrel carburetion, dual exhaust, heavy duty suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars, G70x14 bias-ply glass-belted tires, 7-inch wheels, wood-grain applique on the dash, console and door panels, Strato bucket seats, and custom pinstriping on the side and rear. This Twilight Blue 442 is a “fully loaded” example with a plethora of additional comfort and trim features such as GT hood paint Stripes in white, Super Stock styled steel wheels, factory air conditioning, a center console with a Hurst “dual-gate” shifter, power windows, power seats, cruise control, interior hood lock, power trunk, AM/FM radio with an 8-track player, tilt steering column with sport steering wheel, rear window defroster, Nightwatch headlights and Delco Jac Pac rear air shock absorbers. Model year 1970 was the pinnacle of performance for the 442, with Oldsmobile introducing its large-displacement 455 CI V-8. The Rocket 455 was formidable with its 365 HP, however, the Oldsmobile magic formula for speed was always achieved with elevated torque output, and the Rocket 455 delivered in spades with a whopping 500 lb-ft of torque. This level of stump-pulling power gave the 442 ample output for both drag racing and freeway cruising. Although it was 13% larger in displacement than its predecessor 400, it proved to be slightly less in overall engine weight. This 1970 Oldsmobile 442 is fully documented with two build sheets, an original invoice, original window sticker, retail order form, Protect-O-Plate and service records from new.
