Sold new at Ontario Motor Sales, Ltd., in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 was originally ordered for maximum performance with a dash of luxury to boot. In addition to the original 455/370 HP 4-barrel V-8 engine with functional forced-air induction, it also features the original M21 close-ratio 4-speed transmission with Hurst floor shifter, G88 3.91 Anti-Spin differential and the super-rare W-27 aluminum housing and differential cover, which saved 18 pounds over the standard-issue differential. Other features include red plastic inner fenders, a heavy- duty radiator, front and rear sway bars, the Rocket Rally Pac, a wood-grain instrument panel, sport mirrors, a deluxe pushbutton radio, deluxe steering wheel, rear deck spoiler and Super Stock II wheels with 5 NOS Uniroyal Tiger Paw white-letter tires. This particular 442 W-30 was treated to a body-off-frame concours restoration, which was completed by Mascar Classics in Costa Mesa, California. It includes a refinish in the factory-correct Code 19 Black with White Pearl stripes, as well as factory-correct white bucket seats. The W-30 version of the 455 Oldsmobile Rocket V-8 was the most powerful engine ever offered in an Oldsmobile intermediate, and like its GM cousins, would be the zenith of the muscle-car era. With a 4.12-inch bore and a 4.25- inch stroke, the W-30 featured a 10.5:1 compression ratio, a high-performance hydraulic cam, big-port heads and an aluminum intake manifold mounting a specially calibrated Rochester Quadrajet carburetor. It was rated at 370 HP at 5,200 RPM with 500 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 RPM. It had a well-deserved reputation as a torque monster and was one of the greatest street performance engines of the era. Documented with the dealer copy shipper, Rocket Report and GM of Canada paperwork, this spectacular 1970 442 W-30 was awarded Concours Gold at MCACN in 2016 scoring 1,000 out of 1,000 points.
