Working closely with more than 20 of the automotive industry’s leading manufacturers, Kendall® Motor Oil built The Kendall Custom to reflect its motto, “You Get Out What You Put In®.” From inception to completion, the entire build of this 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback Custom was documented in the online series “Titanium Garage” hosted by Bill Stephens. Once the car was finished, Kendall Motor Oil took its 1,080 HP custom on tour with Mecum Auctions. Since hitting the road, admirers like Emily Reeves, Rob Dahm, NASCAR driver Garrett Smithley and the folks at MotorTrend have paid The Kendall Custom a visit to hear the power of its modified 5.0L twin-turbocharged Ford Coyote engine, and soon, The Kendall Custom will make its final Mecum appearance when it crosses the auction block with 100% of the proceeds set to benefit Curing Kids Cancer. The Kendall Custom was professionally built by Thompson Street Customs in Denver, Colorado, with a custom designed body by Dynacorn. Custom finished in specially blended Kendall Red PPG paint, a 1967 Shelby-style twin nostril hood conceals the 5.0L Coyote V-8 engine with Garret twin turbochargers, a C&R radiator and a specially painted dress-up kit, along with the smoothed and painted firewall and engine bay. Backed by a Ford 6R80 6-speed automatic transmission and A1 driveshaft, the Coyote engine breathes through an X-pipe dual exhaust system by Vi Engineered, while a Strange 9-inch Ford rear end with 3.73 gears sends power to the massive 285/20 ZR22 rear Toyo tires. Painless wiring assures electrical excellence, while a Roadster Shop Fast Track chassis with boxed perimeter frame rails provides a robust backbone for the power and suspension. Uniquely, the chassis uses a custom center crossmember with adjustable drop-out transmission bracket and custom mid-brace crossmember with fabricated exhaust ports. Riding on coilover shocks and race-style control arms, The Kendall Custom features a 4-link rear suspension, Baer 4-wheel disc brakes and Toyo tires all around. Eddie’s Rods and Customs in Pueblo, Colorado, crafted a custom, wraparound, twin-cockpit interior with a large center console, bucket seats, leather and suede upholstery, Vintage Air, Dakota Digital Dual Round HDX package, a custom Kenwood sound system with LED lighting by JL Audio, and Lokar billet accents throughout. Delta Tech Industries headlights show the way in the dark, and the whole thing rides on custom designed Raceline Monterey dark-textured gray wheels, staggered 18x8.5 up front and 20x12 out back. It’s a remarkable one-of- a-kind custom Shelby Mustang, the sale of which will benefit a wonderful charity.
