The Corvette received a comprehensive refreshing for 1958 that proved very successful, driving production from 6,339 in 1957 to 9,168 in 1958. Quad headlights made their first appearance and simulated hood louvers and chromed trunk spears introduced a new level of exterior flash, while a new instrument cluster with column-centered tach and a passenger grab bar answered customer demand for improved interior ergonomics. As before, fuel-injected engines were offered with a choice of hydraulic or solid-lifter camshafts, rated at 250 HP and 290 HP, respectively. Produced in January 1958, this 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is a National Corvette Restorers Society Top Flight Award winner. One of only 504 Corvettes built for 1958 with the Code 579 Rochester fuel-injected 293/250 HP engine, it is an older restoration that has been retired from NCRS Top Flight judging.
