Chevrolet’s fourth-generation Corvette owned SCCA Showroom Stock competition by the latter 1980s, especially with Tommy Morrison and his Mobil 1-sponsored Morrison Motorsports team. A 2017 inductee to the Corvette Hall of Fame, Morrison broke the World Speed Endurance Record in a Corvette ZR1. Among Morrison’s team members was fellow Corvette Hall of Fame member John Heinricy, former manager of the Corvette Development Group at GM’s Proving Grounds and Corvette assistant chief engineer. Campaigned by Morrison Motorsports for the 1990 SCCA Escort World Challenge Series, this 1990 Chevrolet Corvette was driven by John and includes SCCA Logbook No. 90-309 stamped on its roll cage. Proudly displaying its No. 99 Mobil 1 white, blue and red racing livery, the Corvette features refreshed paint, clear coat and graphics applied in 2015 by Xtreme Paint of Jupiter, Florida. The 370 CI Chevrolet V-8 engine was built in 2013 by S&H Auto Machine in West Palm Beach, Florida, and disassembled and resealed in 2021 by Predator Performance of Largo, Florida. Based on a Dart block and 227cc CNC cylinder heads, the Corvette’s mill includes new pistons, rings, rod bearings, valve springs, gaskets and seals, an Eagle crankshaft and connecting rods, Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake manifold, Proform 850 CFM 4-barrel carburetor, MSD Ignition and Hooker Super Competition headers. Other highlights include a 6-speed manual transmission, Sparco quick-release steering wheel, blue and black Corbeau racing seats, Schroth racing harnesses, Coolshirt water tank and pump assembly, and AutoMeter gauges including a 10,000 RPM tachometer and engine hour meter with 15 hours indicated. Riding on 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels mounting Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, the Corvette includes detailed service records since 2013, a spare L98 V-8 engine block, a signed racing suit and handheld radios. To be sold on a bill of sale, this great offering celebrates one of the most successful periods in Corvette racing history.
