S152 1940 INDIAN FOUR CYLINDER Purchased by the seller in 1990, this 1940 Indian Four underwent a professional restoration by John Bivens with the 1246cc engine and 4-speed transmission being rebuilt by Dennis Young of Ken Young and Son Fours. Featuring the correct Schebler DLX124 carburetor, the bike retains its matching frame and engine numbers, 440306 and DD0306, respectively. Showing 888 miles on the odometer, the red motorcycle features a tan-colored saddle, as well as all the brightwork and black trim that’s expected of a classic big Indian. The bike was complete and looked pretty good, but it soon became apparent that it needed a powerplant overhaul, so that task went to Dennis Young of Klamath Falls, Oregon, formerly the ‘son’ in Ken Young and Son, Indian Four specialists in Long Beach, California. Dennis did an excellent job, and now the bike runs smooth and strong. I have often taken it up on the mountain roads north of Los Angeles, and it is a dream to ride. It is strong and smooth, and once you get it in third gear, you never have to shift, even on the hills and turns.
