F113 1937 INDIAN JR. SCOUT Indian introduced the Scout in 1920 as an economical and user- friendly motorcycle in an expanding and competitive market. Nearly 20 years later, this immaculate 1937 Junior Scout maintains that heritage with a high degree of style. The Scout series established a new side-valve V-twin platform for Indian beginning with a 37 CI model, though various configurations followed over the years. In 1927, Indian rolled out a 45 CI Scout initially marketed as a Police Special, and 1928 saw the arrival of the beloved 101 Scout available in either the 37 CI or 45 CI displacement. The 1930s brought dramatic improvements and styling changes to the entire Indian lineup, including the discontinuation of the 101 Scout in 1932. That same year, the Scout came in two configurations: the Model 232, a 45 CI V-twin Scout, or the Model 532, a 30.50 CI V-twin which was renamed the Pony Scout. The Pony Scout harkened back to the purpose of the original in 1920 as both an affordable and capable machine. At only $225, the Pony Scout was a welcome transportation option during the Great Depression and held its unique position in the market as a small-displacement V-twin. Circulating oil systems were NO RESERVE introduced in 1933, and 1934 saw the third model to join the Scout line, the popular and peppy Sport Scout. In 1937, the Pony Scout was renamed the Junior Scout and included many improvements from across the line in previous years, including new forks, sheet metal and styling, as well as an updated electrical system. This regal blue and gold 1937 Junior Scout, Model 537, is a highly desirable matching-numbers example of the “little Scout” and has been meticulously restored by the expert hands of Wayne Kruty. The 30 CI side-valve V-twin has been rebuilt by Bucks Indians with all new bearings, pistons, rings, valves, springs and guides, and it features the latter-style, taller-finned heads for improved cooling. The 3-speed gearbox has been rebuilt with new gears, as has the carburetor, wheel bearings and races. The electrics system features a battery/generator ignition, an electric headlight, tail light, horn and lighted dash with an ammeter. The Indian Scout has a pedigree like few other American motorcycles. It is a heritage that this pristine 1937 Indian Junior Scout adds mechanical refinement and timeless style to, creating a machine with equal parts beauty and significance.
