The first F-Series pickups were introduced in 1948 as the F1, F2 and so on. Known as the Bonus-Built Pickups, the new line was larger and stronger all around than the previous generations of Ford pickups. Popular for 1953, Ford revised the names as F100, F250 and F350 and once again upgraded the body, chassis, interior, engines and more to create a stronger, larger and more comfortable pickup. While many claims persist as to why Ford revised its nomenclature, one of the most exciting was that the F100 was renamed to honor the North American F-100 Super Sabre, a supersonic jet fighter used by the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard. For 1956, the final year of the second generation, Ford extensively restyled the truck with a new wraparound windshield, upright doors and a new dashboard, and also made a large rear window available. For all intents and purposes, because of the restyling and reengineering, the 1956 F100 is largely a one-year-only pickup that simply gave a glimpse of things to come from future F-Series pickups. This 1956 F100 has been extensively customized and is finished in black inside and out. Powered by a new 350 CI Chevrolet V-8 engine built out with a Comp Cam and roller rockers, a Holley 750 CFM carburetor, an Edelbrock RPM air gap manifold, MSD ignition, Hedman headers with a stainless H-pipe exhaust and Magnaflow mufflers, it sends a sweet amount of power through the Turbo 350 transmission to the 9-inch rear end. Dressed with an exquisite amount of brightwork and chrome, the March billet serpentine kit with new pumps and compressors and Champion four-core double-pass aluminum radiator really stand out. A Gibbons front clip with torsion bar independent front suspension improves ride and handling while front disc and rear drum brakes feature cryo-treated discs, drums, pads and shoes to improve bite and heat dissipation. With the F100 featuring the original 1956 trim, the triple- chrome-plated bumpers, finished oak bed floor treated with stainless rails and hardware, and 18-inch American Racing wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich tires all add to the look. A custom aluminum fuel tank has been installed, fed by an Eddie Motorsports billet filler neck. Inside, passengers will love the custom interior with Dakota Digital instrumentation, an Ididit billet tilt steering column, Lokar pedals, Painless Wiring harness and a custom upholstered bench seat, all bringing the classic pickup into the modern realm.
