Having covered just 15 miles since the completion of a recent frame-off build, this 1955 Chevrolet Nomad was displayed at the 2022 SEMA Show in the Mother’s Polish booth. Powered by a fuel-injected 572 CI GM Performance V-8 crate engine and a 4L80E automatic transmission, the Nomad is stretched across an Art Morrison chassis sprung with a JRI adjustable coilover suspension, Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes and a Ford 9-inch rear end. CS Restoration of San Jose, California, finished the body in Estoril Royal Blue, while tinted windows blend in nicely with the black roof, creating a unique two-tone look and a fabulously modern flair. The body features subtle touches like shaved door handles and mirrors, custom rear wheel well arches lowered by an inch, the custom one-piece door, single-pane rear side windows and a hidden fuel door. The chrome was reconditioned by Sherm’s Plating, and the exterior features only a tasteful amount of brightwork through the smooth, one-piece bumpers, Bel Air rear, grille, lighting and window surrounds, tailgate spears and side strake. The headlights have been upgraded to modern LED units with blue halos. Michelin tires wrap 20-inch twin five-spoke Budnik wheels, with the mini-tubbed rear providing some extra space. The interior has been customized by Finish Line Interiors of Santa Clara, California, with plush black carpeting and matching floor mats piped in blue, black leather bucket seats with blue contrast stitching, a custom center console with an integrated armrest, controls for the power windows, cup holders, a Lokar floor shifter, controls for the Vintage Air and a Bluetooth-compatible Alpine head unit controlling an amp, subwoofer and navigation. The dashboard has been customized as well with custom paint, Dakota Digital analog instrumentation, a digital in-dash clock and a Budnik leather- wrapped steering wheel. The engine is dressed and detailed in polished aluminum and black with a Hogan intake, nestled in a fully smoothed and detailed engine compartment painted to match the body. Billet hinges round out the scene, along with a Wilwood master cylinder and a hand-bent and welded, coated custom exhaust system by BRE Rods.
