An Achilles heel for so many when it comes to classic vehicles is that they can be less comfortable and accommodating than modern vehicles. But that’s just not the case with this 1965 Dodge D200 Pickup, which has been given a rotisserie restoration, emerging externally looking very much like 1965 delivered it – but inside and underneath, an examination reveals that this truck has utilized the chassis, drivetrain and interior from a 2010 Dodge Ram Laramie 2500 4-wheel drive. Originally delivered to the Air Force, the 1965 Dodge body was grafted onto the modern chassis fitted with a 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel engine, which was cleaned, inspected, resealed and painted the correct Cummins Beige, and mated to a rebuilt Jasper 68RFE automatic transmission. Polished OEM vintage Mopar hubcaps were mounted with custom clips to the New Black Rhino Armory wheels, which were sandblasted, painted white and appointed with 96 new polished stainless flange-head bolts, lending a very unique, retro-mod style. Shod with 37x13.50 BF Goodrich KM3 tires, the suspension features a 3-inch lift complete with the correct-length Rancho shocks. For the body and the chassis to fit properly, the front fenders were extended and a 500 series truck grille filler panel was installed to accommodate the taller intercooler and radiator. At the rear, the long wheelbase Sweptline bed was also cut down and modified to fit correctly. The cab was sandblasted, epoxy primed and received bodywork while the frame was likewise sandblasted and painted satin Chassis Black. The original interior was swapped for that of the 2010 Ram Laramie and is complete with the dashboard, heated steering wheel, body control module, wiring, dual-zone climate control, trailer brake controller and exhaust brake. The Laramie also donated power-heated and ventilated front bucket seats and custom door panels, overhead consoles and more. The backseat is a custom 40/40 with a custom console and a 10- inch subwoofer while the headliner is covered in Ultrasuede. The entire scene is colored in rich brown and replete with woodgrain and bright finishes throughout. A multitude of other unique custom touches have set this D250 apart from likely any other D250 on the planet, including details like functional TPMS and ABS systems, RBP Power Steps with LED lighting, an Alpine head unit with Apple CarPlay, navigation, a backup camera and a 5,000-Watt 18-speaker stereo system, Hella headlights and fog lights and much more.
