It was the fourth consecutive year that a Corvette paced the Brickyard, and the race’s actual pace car was piloted by actor and race car driver Patrick Dempsey, with three-time Indy 500 winner Johnny Rutherford driving it during the caution periods. Dario Franchitti won the rain-shortened race, driving a Dallaro IR-05 Honda for Andretti Green Racing. He won a 2007 Pace Car Corvette as part of the championship prize package. The Z4Z Pace Car Edition option code once again appeared on the Corvette order sheet and included the 6.0L/400 HP LS2 engine, choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed paddle-shifted automatic, Atomic Orange paint with gold ribbon graphics, Indy 500 door graphics and fender badges, a color-keyed Z06-style rear spoiler, Atomic Orange engine covers and interior trim, ebony leather seats with Indy 500 embroidery, and a black soft top. It also previewed the silver, 2008-style, split-spoke wheels introduced in 2007, in this case, mounting Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. This particular 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car Edition features the 6-speed automatic transmission, power steering, brakes, windows, locks, mirrors and heated seats, dual-zone air conditioning, a navigation system, Bose entertainment system, OnStar, head-up display, theft deterrent system, HID xenon headlamps, Magnetic Ride Control suspension and quad exhaust tips. Gray brake calipers clamping down on cross-drilled, vented rotors—13.4-inch diameter front and 13-inch diameter rear—with ABS help it bring it down from speed. This car has been stored in a humidity and temperature-controlled museum and comes with a three- ring binder with a window sticker and spare keys.
