Some cars are head-turners because of their initial impressions, some because of their overall condition and some because there is a story behind it all, but this incredible 1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda meets all three of those criteria. To begin, this FM3-code Moulin Rouge E-body had been owned by just a single family, purchased as a graduation present for their daughter back in 1970. Secondly, this car is in unrestored condition, with its original Moulin Rouge paint and graphics and OEM white interior. And beyond that conditioning, this is also the only known example equipped with this drivetrain and color combination, with its documentation including two broadcast sheets. The A53 AAR program was only around for a year, and FM3 Moulin Rouge availability on it was only for a few, short months in the spring of 1970. This AAR Cuda has its original, matching-numbers drivetrain, which starts with the special 340/290 HP small-block V-8 engine. This featured the trio of Holley 2-barrel carburetors on a factory Edelbrock intake, high-flow cast manifolds that feed into side-exit exhaust, and unique cylinder heads and valve gear, a combo only offered by Plymouth once—on this model. This is backed by a 4-speed manual transmission and 8.75-inch rear end with 3.55 final gear ratio. There are power brakes with front discs, as well as the special AAR suspension upgrades. Inside, this car features its original, white bucket-seat interior, the Hurst Pistol Grip shifter with floor boot, dash layout with black fascia, Plymouth pushbutton radio and a driver’s side remote mirror. Dress-ups outside include dual chrome mirrors, bright exhaust trumpets, a rear-mount antenna and the factory fender blackout matching the original pin-secured fiberglass hood. The final touches are the Rallye wheels with staggered Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, E60-15 front and G60-15 rear, and the Space Saver spare is in the trunk. From the AAR emblems to the aggressive stance, this was not just a performance car, but one in a special color with a special story. Coming with the owner’s manual, broadcast sheets, Dave Wise Report and Chrysler Registry Report, this highly original 1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda in its rare Moulin Rouge is sure to turn heads.
