Commemorating the 2020 IMSA GTLM season dominance of the Corvette C8.R, Chevrolet unleashed the special C8.R Edition Corvette, which was introduced at the Raceway at Belle Isle Park near Detroit. Just 1,000 were produced, all in left-hand drive configuration, resembling the No. 3 and No. 4 Corvette C8.R race cars and celebrating the Corvette C8.R’s maiden 2020 racing season, an eventful one with Corvette Racing’s sweep of IMSA’s sports car championship series, taking the trifecta of Manufacturers, Drivers and Team titles. On the road to those wins, Corvette Racing took six wins and seven poles, setting the fastest race laps in its class in six events. Specific features of the C8.R Limited Edition Corvettes included 3LT trim with the renowned Z51 Performance Package plus Corvette Racing-themed graphics packages. Two versions were offered including the Accelerate Yellow No. 3 edition with gray graphics and the Hypersonic Gray No. 4 edition featuring yellow accents. Additional exterior content, depending on the specific market, included a high-wing spoiler in Carbon Flash, yellow brake calipers, black trident design wheels, “Jake” logos on the center caps and black lug nuts, outside mirrors in Carbon Flash and black side rockers. Interior enhancements included a Strike Yellow and Sky Cool Gray cabin that mimics the exterior yellow and gray racing theme, along with standard GT2 seats, yellow seat belts and a C8.R Special Edition numbered plaque. Each car also came with a custom-fitted indoor car cover rendered to the appearance of the No. 3 or No. 4 Corvette C8.R race car and keyed to the Special Edition’s specific colors and graphics. The IMSA GTLM Championship Edition package started at $6,595, excluding tax. This electrifying 2022 IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Limited Edition Corvette is one of just 1,000 examples produced for 2022. In addition to the Z51 Performance Package and top-of-the-line 3LT option, it features the potent midmounted 6.2L/495 HP V-8 engine and 8-speed, dual clutch, automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Finished in the Hypersonic Gray No. 4 exterior over the Sky Cool Gray and Strike Yellow interior treatment, this special Corvette is equipped with a power-retractable hardtop, heated and ventilated power-adjustable bucket seats, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, a Carbon Flash high rear wing spoiler, performance exhaust and staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear five-trident spoke, black, aluminum wheels.
