While the 1967 Corvette is one of the most sought-after second-generation Corvettes among today’s collectors, it was not meant to be. In fact, 1967 was intended to have been the inaugural model year for the swoopy new third-generation “shark” body style. However, Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov found that the new Corvette was not quite production-ready, and several updates were required to ensure proper engine cooling and build quality, necessitating one final year of the second-generation design for 1967. Offered from 19 years of single ownership, this 1967 Corvette was produced on September 21, 1966, and delivered new by Huebsch Chevrolet in Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin (Dealer Code 292 in Zone 61), per the official NCRS/GM shipping data records. It is also quite rare as one of only 2,101 Corvettes produced in 1967 with the L68 427/400 HP engine. Retaining the original, matching-numbers 427/400 HP engine and M21 4-speed manual transmission, this Corvette is a three-owner car with 62,943 actual miles at the time of writing. In addition to the CCAS/Grenning affirmation of the engine block, stamp pad and engine stamp, this collector-grade Corvette retains its factory-original body/trim tag with CCAS/Grenning trim tag affirmation. Finished in the rare color combination of Silver Pearl paint with a Teal Blue hood stinger, Teal Blue interior and Teal Blue soft top, the Corvette also sports a 3.36 Positraction rear end, plus options that include power windows, leather seats with headrests, an auxiliary removable hardtop, AM/FM radio and tinted glass. Most all factory-correct-type components are present, including the spare, jack, clear floor mats, seat belts, washer system, shifter, shielding, braided wires, air cleaner, alternator, hoses, hose clamps, starter, gas door assembly, glovebox door and T-3 headlights. Bolt-on aluminum wheels with vintage 7.75x15-inch red-stripe tires. Documents include the warranty book and Protect-O-Plate, CCAS/Grenning engine stamp and trim tag affirmations, the owner’s manual packet, the previous owner’s title, a numbers sheet and a three-ring binder.
