The 1967 Chevrolet Corvette introduced buyers to a new pair of Mark IV big-block V-8 engines, both highlighted by a Tri-Power induction system featuring three inline Holley 2-barrel carburetors beneath a distinctive chromed triangular air cleaner. The more powerful of the two was the solid- lifter L71 rated at 435 HP at 5,800 RPM, a misleading figure given the engine’s ability to sail past that to 6,500 RPM, with a corresponding boost in peak output and scorching acceleration. The stunning result of a six-year body-off restoration, 1967 Corvette Sting Ray convertible retains its matching-numbers driveline combining the incredibly potent Tri-Power 427/435 HP big-block V-8, a Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed manual transmission and 3.55:1 Positraction rear end. According to NCRS/GM Shipping Data records, it was delivered new by CC Jones Chevrolet in Mart, Texas (dealer code 381, zone 7). Factory finished in Marina Blue paint with a black stinger, bright blue interior and black soft top, its optional equipment included factory side exhaust, transistorized ignition, a Soft Ray tinted windshield, a black vinyl auxiliary hard top and an AM/FM radio. The car’s restoration included rebuilding the driveline, suspension and brakes, the latter including an upgrade to stainless steel. Coker Classic redline radial tires on Rally wheels complete the restoration, which also included restored or new pieces such as the starter, horn relay, voltage regulator, wiper motor, headlight motors, gauge cluster (date stamp and LB label preserved), steering box, transistorized ignition, alternator, Quanta gas tank, bumpers, tail lights, parking lights, door panels, seat covers, carpet, soft top, hoses and hose clamps. The car additionally retains most all factory-correct-type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, seat belts, washer system, shifter, shielding, braided wires, air cleaner, alternator, distributor, master brake cylinder, hoses, hose clamps, valve covers, starter, carbs, radiator, radiator cap, gas door assembly, glovebox door, owners manual, sales brochure and T-3 headlights. Documented with a partial tank sticker, ownership history, title copies, restoration photos, restoration receipts and a 3-ring binder, this beautifully restored L71 Tri- Power Corvette convertible has yet to be shown, creating an exciting opportunity for the next owner to exhibit the car and compete for trophies, awards and recognition.
