At just 1,096 produced, Elkhart Blue was the second rarest exterior color choice with Corvette buyers in 1967, making examples such as this singularly handsome L71 Sting Ray convertible increasingly popular with collectors. Highlighted by a matching-numbers L71 427/435 HP Tri-Power big-block V-8, factory born-with side exhaust and matching-numbers 4.11:1 Positraction rear end, its ultra high-performance drivetrain––surpassed in performance only by the racing- purposed L88––is completed with a Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission. According to its accompanying NCRS/GM Shipping Data records, it was produced on March 15, 1967, and delivered new by Dick Lang Chevrolet Co. in Xenia, Ohio, with Elkhart Blue paint, a black stinger, black interior and matching black soft top. In addition to the potent drivetrain, it was further optioned with K66 transistorized ignition, F41 special heavy- duty suspension, an AM/FM radio and a black vinyl-covered auxiliary hard top. A recently completed body-off restoration included a balance and blueprint of the original engine, which now shows just break-in mileage, along with a stainless steel brake upgrade and the installation of vintage 7.75x15-inch red stripe tires on three-piece Rally wheels. Ample documentation includes the factory-original body/trim tag, owner history, eight notarized statements from the past owners with photographs, a 1979 Ohio title, an owner’s manual packet, restoration photos and two binders. The car retains most all factory-correct-type components including the spare, jack, jack tools, clear floor mats, seat belts, washer system, shifter, shielding, braided wires, air cleaner, alternator, hoses, hose clamps, valve covers, starter, dated carbs, gas door assembly, bowtie mirror, glovebox door and T-3 headlights. This recently restored 1967 Corvette Tri- Power convertible has yet to be shown, creating an exciting opportunity for the next owner to exhibit the car and compete for trophies, awards and recognition.
