A painstaking restoration of 10561 was performed from 1998 to 2007, with cosmetic work completed over a three-year period. The V-12 engine was removed, and the body was stripped to bare metal and refinished by Euro-Craft, Inc. of Lawrenceville, Georgia, to its original Oro Chiaro (light gold). Renowned trimmer Joe Nitti restored the interior with new Nero (black) Connolly hides and Wilton wool carpeting and fitted a new convertible top. Consistent with the painstaking attention to detail during the restoration, the original window-lift switches were carefully rebuilt and not replaced, and the bumpers were restored. The mechanical restoration was performed by Ferrari of Atlanta, with the 4.0L V-12 engine disassembled and completely rebuilt. The clutch was replaced, the gearbox was overhauled with new bearings and synchro rings, the shift forks were set up, and the differential clutch pack was rebuilt. In addition, the carburetors were rebuilt and synchronized, and the distributors were rebuilt with new rotors, breaker points and caps. The brakes and suspension received equal attention, the Borrani wire wheels were reconditioned and refinished, and period-style Michelin XWX radial tires fitted. In March 2004, 10561 was displayed in Class F for Open Ferraris at the 9th Annual Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. Since its restoration was completed, the spider was used sparingly under Steinemann’s care and stored within climate-controlled facilities. In fact, it was kept at Ferrari of Atlanta from 1998 to 2009 with the sole exception of its 2004 Amelia Island Concours appearance. After 30 years of ownership, S/N 10561 was sold to noted collector Les Wexner in March 2011, and then in 2013, the consignor purchased it. In October 2013, S/N 10561 received Ferrari Classiche certification, and the Red Book accompanies the car. Under the care of the current owner, S/N 10561 was given a concours-quality refinish to its current black livery by Rod Stryker of Quality Automotive in Columbus, Ohio, who also detailed the undercarriage to concours-quality standards. In 2016, the Ferrari was further sorted and elevated with a comprehensive mechanical, chassis and suspension restoration performed by Exclusive Motorcars in Los Angeles. Confirming its excellence, S/N 10561 is highly decorated with awards under FCA (Ferrari Club of America) judging with honors including the FCA Platinum Award at the Pasadena Concorso Ferrari in both 2016 and 2018. Crowning its accolades, S/N 10561 achieved a 100-point judging score at the 2022 edition of the San Marino Motor Classic, once again earning the FCA Platinum Award and best of class for the Concorso Ferrari Class. Offered in impressive and exceedingly well-detailed form, S/N 10561 is now ready for a new owner to join its roster of caretakers. Simply gorgeous and worthy of any concours event the next owner should ever choose to enter, this extremely rare 1967 Ferrari 330 GTS exemplifies the classical and exclusive V-12 grand touring models near the end of the marque’s ownership and control under its legendary founder Enzo Ferrari.
