For many owners, automotive styling is the major factor in deciding to buy a particular car. The 1959 Impala represented a fresh, dramatic look for Chevrolet. Adding to its appeal, this example is also a multi-carbureted big-block convertible. The car has been given a complete frame-off restoration that included replacement of worn pieces, repair of rocker sheet metal, and cleaning and painting of its frame. Approximately 1,000 miles have been driven since its completion. Beneath the hood is the W-series 348 CI V-8 Chevrolet engine with new seals, small chrome air cleaners and the Tri-Power carburetor setup. Painted orange, the engine is currently running using a single carburetor, with linkage and fuel lines to activate all three carburetors included in this sale. The engine bay also features manifolds feeding dual exhaust, a wide fan shroud, hood hinge detailing and an upgraded battery. This is all backed by a 4-speed manual transmission, and this Impala is equipped with both power steering and power brakes. Stunning outside, the car has been repainted in original code 923 Roman Red acrylic paint, perfectly complemented by the wide side spear with the white insert, and a matched new white soft top has been installed. Also included will be a paint-matched removable wind deflector that can be installed when the convertible top is down. The interior was replaced with original style materials with tri-color inserts, a two-tone steering wheel, a white ball-knob floor shifter and a pushbutton radio with dual antennas and optional rear seat speaker. During the process, also replaced were the windshield, rear quarter, door and vent window glass, and the car’s door, trunk, and convertible top seals were also swapped for new. This model’s level of chrome is well-known, with the special grille, cat-eye taillamps, and, on this car, the rare dual “Heilo” side mirrors. The look is completed by a continental kit, full wheel covers and perfect-touch whitewall tires. A true classic, this big-block 4-speed Chevrolet in a convertible format is a car with the ability to quickly turn heads.
