Reprising and expanding upon the Demon name, the 2023 Challenger SRT Demon 170 marks the last of Dodge’s seven- car Last Call series. While looking similar to the one-year-only 2018 Challenger SRT Demon, the Demon 170 lives up to its diabolical model name with up to 1,025 HP on tap. Purpose-built to produce 4-digit horsepower, the “170” in the new Challenger’s Demon 170 moniker comes from its supercharged Hellcat V-8 derived engine’s peak power output on 170-proof E85 fuel. Using 91-octane gasoline, the car is still factory-rated at 900 HP, making it one of, if not the, most outrageous factory-built performance cars ever unleashed. The reinforced and upgraded driveline, including a stronger driveshaft and beefier rear axle, and a new and improved transmission brake with driver-selectable launch settings, handle the extra power. Performance highlights include the engine’s conical cold-air intake setup and After Run Chiller, plus the active damping suspension. According to Dodge, claimed performance includes an 8.61-second quarter-mile at 151 MPH and 0-60 MPH acceleration in a stunning 1.66 seconds (both on prepared track surfaces). Offered with just 19 miles, Demon No. 1573 of course features the awesome supercharged 6.2L/1025 HP Hemi V-8 engine and TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission. In addition to the SRT Demon 170 Package, a $20,466 option, this high- spec example includes the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody 27Q package, a $16,605 option. The transmission brake delivers incredible bite off the starting line, and this Demon 170 also features the stopping power of Brembo 4-piston disc brakes with black-finished calipers. Additional performance comes from the lightweight sound insulation delete option and dual-scoop Air Grabber hood. Rolling stock includes forged aluminum, two-piece, 18x8 front wheels and 17x11 wheels and M/T tires under the aggressively flared rear fenders. Exterior highlights include an SRT Performance spoiler and Satin Black roof, hood and decklid graphics. While a brutal performer, this Demon 170 is surprisingly luxurious and functional with its carbon fiber interior accents, Demonic Red seat belts, ventilated Alcantara and Laguna seats, suede headliner, premium-stitched dash panel, power tilt/telescopic steering, rain-sensitive wipers, Uconnect with 8.4-inch display, HID headlamps and audiophile-quality Harman Kardon 18-speaker stereo system with GreenEdge amplifier. As the last of the Dodge Last Call series of ultra-performance cars, this rare 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 represents a breed of factory-available automobile that the world will likely never see again.
