Sometimes you just want to put it all out there, and this 1969 Hemi GTX certainly does that. After all, while you might hide behind a blue or green, it is RED that gets attention. Wearing a comprehensive restoration that was completed in 2004, this R6 Scorch Red Mopar retains its matching-numbers 426 CI Hemi V-8 engine and is 1 of only 98 Hemi GTXs produced with a 4-speed for 1969. It features the Super Track Pak driveline, which means the A833 4-speed manual transmission, Dana 60 SureGrip differential, power front disc brakes, extreme cooling components and the better Hemi suspension pieces. The Hemi engine, rated at 425 HP, is tucked underneath the new-for-1969 Air Grabber hood with the functional oval air cleaner, using dual inline 4-barrel carbs, power steering and free-flowing dual exhaust. Documentation on this car’s factory construction includes the fender tag, a broadcast sheet and a dealer doc sheet. Outside, we noted the R6 paint, with black highlights that include the Performance Hood treatment and lower rocker paint, along with the exclusive cast-center GTX grille and red- stripe decklid insert. Inside, this is a deluxe build and features headrest bucket seats and C16 console, a woodgrain-themed Hurst ball-knob shifter, the in-dash tachometer and 150 MPH sweep speedometer in the dash, rear defogger, AM/FM radio with MP3 upgrade, and rear seat speaker. Moreover, as a special note are the P31 Power Windows, and this GTX features the Light Package, remote control driver’s side mirror, 3-spoke sport steering wheel and tinted windshield. There are other notable points outside. For instance, front and rear bumper guards, body side-stripe delete, fender-mounted turn signal lamps, chrome exhaust tips, HEMI hood tags for the Air Grabber and on the decklid, and dual outside mirrors. The final touch on this car would be the body-color 15” steel wheels featuring small-diameter hubcaps and blackwall radial- design tires. The result is a top-shelf Mopar that will not hide, equipped with all the right stuff to first be seen, and then to simply disappear with a Scorch Red roar.
