events like the 2018 GTOAA National Convention in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and the 2020 return of the annual Pontiac-only car show, which has had a successful 13-year run thus far. In 2013, this chapter was even awarded the Chapter of the Year Award. Although the GTOAA is not affiliated with any specific charity, local chapters still do their part to serve the community, and the SVGTO is a proud benefactor of the Ronald McDonald House of Central Pennsylvania, which provides accommodations for families of hospitalized children at no charge. With a fully developed kitchen at its disposal, the SVGTO hosts a dinner for the families twice a year, during which members volunteer their time to cook the food, and in addition, the club donates a majority of the proceeds made from driving cars across the Mecum Harrisburg auction block directly to the Ronald McDonald House. The SVGTO is merely one of the vast number of chapters the GTOAA encompasses, but the charitable nature of the GTO-loving club members is spread thoroughly throughout each offshoot. When joining the GTO Association of America, or a chapter of it, members are sent a monthly emailed newslet ter detailing updates on future events such as GTOAA-specific events, chapter car shows, the International Convention and information about the GTOAA’s monthly magazine, “The Legend.” One such event to keep pinned for updates is the GTOAA’s International Convention, where chapters, individual members and the Pontiac fan base as a whole come together to celebrate the venerable GTO. The upcoming 42nd International Convention is set to take place July 5-9, 2021, at the Chula Vista Resort in the Wisconsin Dells. The GTOAA of fers more than just camarader ie wi th its membership.
